As part of their build-up to the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, Nepal's national cricket team will play a set of preparation series in two phases, featuring fixtures in Sri Lanka and India.
The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has scheduled preparation matches after Nepal complete their second phase of training camp at home, with the tours aimed at giving the squad competitive match exposure before the World Cup begins.
Nepal will first travel to Sri Lanka, where they are set to play three T20 matches against Sri Lanka ‘A’ on January 20, 22 and 24. Nepal will also have dedicated practice days on January 19, 21 and 23 in between the matches, allowing the team to adjust plans, rotate combinations, and fine-tune roles across the batting and bowling groups under conditions similar to those expected during the World Cup.
Following the Sri Lanka leg, Nepal will head to India for two T20 practice matches against the Mumbai Cricket Association’s MCA President XI at the CCI ground. The first match is scheduled on January 29 as a day game, while the second will be played on January 31 as a day/night fixture, with Nepal set to train on January 27 and 28. The day/night game is expected to be a particularly important match-simulation opportunity, with conditions under lights often shaping decision-making in subcontinent T20 cricket.
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka and is set to begin on February 7, with Nepal scheduled to play their opening match against England on February 8.
