KATHMANDU: Nepal all-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee has been shortlisted for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for May after a strong all-round run in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 matches in Kirtipur.
Dipendra is joined on the men's shortlist by Bangladesh pair Taijul Islam and Mushfiqur Rahim, the ICC announced through a media release.
The Nepal's ODI vice-captain started the month with a century against the United Arab Emirates. He finished with 249 runs in six ODIs at an average of 49.80 and a strike rate of 110.66.
Dipendra also contributed with the ball, taking eight wickets at an economy rate of 4.52. His best bowling figure in May was 4/24 against the United States of America.
Taijul made the shortlist after taking 13 wickets in Bangladesh’s 2-0 Test series win over Pakistan. Mushfiqur was named Player of the Series in the same contest after scoring 235 runs at an average of 63.25.
In the women’s category, England fast bowler Lauren Bell, Pakistan batter Gull Feroza and New Zealand batter Maddy Green have been nominated.
Bell took five wickets in three ODIs and eight wickets in four T20Is against New Zealand and India. Gull was named Player of the Series against Zimbabwe after scoring 50, 100 and 106 not out in Pakistan’s 3-0 ODI series win.
Green was New Zealand’s Player of the Series in the drawn ODI series against England. She scored 125 runs in three ODIs and added 93 runs in three T20Is.
The winners will be decided by votes from the ICC Voting Academy and fans. The Voting Academy carries 90 percent of the vote, while fan voting on the ICC website accounts for the remaining 10 percent.
