KATHMANDU - Jan Frylinck produced a superb fighting century for Namibia against Nepal in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 before being run out on exactly 100 in Utrecht.
Frylinck, batting in difficult conditions, made 100 from 149 balls with three boundaries and no sixes. It was his second ODI century for Namibia, and one built more on patience and control than fluent strokeplay.
The left-hander was dismissed in unfortunate fashion at the non-striker's end. Rohit Paudel, bowling to Nicol Loftie-Eaton, was involved in the run out as Frylinck's long resistance ended immediately after reaching three figures.
Frylinck's knock was a patient one rather than a fluent attacking innings. He absorbed pressure, rotated strike and gave Namibia the foundation they needed in a low-scoring League 2 contest.
The century was also significant given the match situation and surface, with runs proving difficult to score freely. Frylinck’s strike rate of 67.11 reflected the challenge of the conditions and Nepal’s disciplined bowling effort.
Nepal had earlier kept Namibia quiet through tight spells, but Frylinck’s innings gave the hosts a crucial anchor.
