Jason Roy to join Pokhara Avengers for NPL 2025

England's dynamic opening batter Jason Roy is set to join the Pokhara Avengers for the upcoming Nepal Premier League (NPL) 2025 season. The franchise confirmed his signing on Saturday via social media, announcing the 35-year-old as a key overseas recruit ahead of the tournament's second edition, scheduled to start on November 17.

Roy boasts a distinguished international career, having played 116 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and scored 4,271 runs at an average of 39.91, including 12 centuries and 21 fifties. In the shorter T20I format, he has featured in 64 matches and amassed 1,522 runs at an average of 24.15. In Test cricket, Roy made his debut in 2019 and registered 187 runs in five matches at an average of 18.70.

In T20 franchise leagues around the world, Roy has carved a reputation for power, aggression and match-winning starts. He holds the record for England's highest individual ODI score of 180, achieved against Australia in 2018, and was instrumental in the opening partnerships that powered England to their 2019 Cricket World Cup title.

Roy's arrival at Pokhara strengthens a squad that has already earmarked an ambitious campaign. The franchise has also retained marquee Nepal opener Kushal Bhurtel and added international talent such as New Zealand's James Neesham, England's Adam Rossington and Dan Douthwaite.
