Ireland and Scotland confirmed their places at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 with convincing wins on the final day of the qualifying tournament in Nepal. Ireland produced a dominant all-round display to beat Thailand by 62 runs, before Scotland completed the job with a 41-run victory over the USA.
Bangladesh, who had already secured qualification, ended the campaign with a comfortable seven-wicket win over the Netherlands to finish with a perfect record.
Ireland qualify in style
Ireland showed composure under pressure at Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, posting 121/8 and then dismantling Thailand for 59 all out.
Ireland's innings was built on quick starts rather than a big partnership. Amy Hunter (24 off 15) set the tempo early, while Gaby Lewis (25) and Orla Prendergast (24) also got in before falling in a mid-innings wobble that saw Ireland slip from 79/3 to 96/7. A late push from Louise Little (14) and Jane Maguire (15)* lifted the total past 120.
Thailand never threatened in the chase. Early wickets put them on the back foot, and despite Naruemol Chaiwai (22) and Nannapat Koncharoenkai (15) offering resistance, Ireland’s bowlers kept striking. Arlene Kelly (4/7) and Lara McBride (3/6) ran through the line-up to seal a commanding win.
Scotland overpower USA to clinch World Cup spot
Scotland followed with a high-scoring performance, piling up 178/8 and then bowling the USA out for 137.
Opener Darcey Carter starred with 52 off 34 balls, providing early momentum. After a brief wobble that included quick wickets, Scotland accelerated through Ailsa Lister (43 off 32) and Priyanaz Chatterji (39 off 28) to register their biggest total of the qualifier.
The USA tried to rebuild after losing an early wicket, with Ella Claridge (35) and Chetna Pagydyala (24) making starts, but Scotland stayed on top with regular breakthroughs. The chase faded as the required rate climbed, and the USA were dismissed with an over to spare.
Bangladesh finish unbeaten
At Mulpani Cricket Ground, Bangladesh made it seven wins from seven, restricting the Netherlands to 102/6 before chasing 103 with three overs remaining.
The Netherlands were guided by Sanya Khurana (43 retired hurt) and Robine Rijke (39), but Nahida Akter (3/10) kept a lid on the scoring and removed key batters.
In reply, Bangladesh lost two early wickets, but captain Nigar Sultana Joty (50 off 44)* and Sobhana Mostary (33)* calmly completed the chase to ensure Bangladesh topped the table with a flawless run.
