Kathmandu - Kushal Bhurtel continued his outstanding run of form with another century as Nepal defeated Jersey by 81 runs in the first one-day match at NCC Grainville.
Opening the innings after Nepal were sent in to bat, Kushal scored 105 off 117 balls, hitting 13 fours. His innings anchored Nepal's total of 250/8 and gave the team a strong start to their preparation tour ahead of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2 series in the Netherlands.
The century added to a remarkable recent run for Kushal in Nepal colours. In his last eight innings for Nepal, he has scored four centuries and one half-century across formats.
In the recent matches, he has scored 65 against Hong Kong (T20I), 20 against Oman (T20I), 126 against Malaysia (T20I), 129 against China (T20I), 29 against USA (ODI), 28 against Scotland (ODI) and 120* against USA (ODI).
Kushal's timing is also important for Nepal. The team are preparing for a crucial League 2 tri-series in the Netherlands, where they will face the Netherlands and Namibia. With Nepal chasing a top-four finish in the League 2 table, runs from the top order will be central to their campaign.
Against Jersey, Nepal posted 250/8 before bowling the home side out for 169 in 41 overs.
