Nepal's winless run in the Top End T20 Series continued as they went down to Melbourne Stars Academy by 31 runs in the 13th match at TIO Stadium, Darwin, on Monday.
Batting first, the Stars overcame an early setback to post 175 for 7 in 20 overs. After Campbell Kellaway fell cheaply, Thomas Rogers (65 off 46) and Blake Macdonald (74 off 47) combined for a commanding 120-run partnership that set the platform.
Sandeep Lamichhane was the standout bowler for Nepal, finishing with 3 for 26, while Rohit Paudel and Sompal Kami chipped in with wickets.
Chasing 176, Nepal began steadily with Aasif Sheikh (53 off 49) and Rohit Paudel (33 off 31) holding the innings together. However, regular breakthroughs from Austin Anlezark (2/24) and Doug Warren (2/31) halted Nepal's progress, leaving them stranded at 144 for 7 after 20 overs.
Macdonald was named Player of the Match for his fluent knock that proved decisive in the contest.
The victory gave Melbourne Stars Academy their second win of the tournament, while Nepal are still searching for their first.
