Kathmandu - Nepal defeated Jersey by seven runs via the DLS method in the second one-day practice match at NCC Grainville on Wednesday, completing a 2-0 sweep of the two-match series.
Nepal won the toss and elected to bowl first. Jersey posted 282/6 in their 50 overs, with Patrick Gouge top-scoring with 95 off 110 balls. Harrison Carlyon made 56, while Jack Tribe added 50 to lift the home side to a strong total.
For Nepal, Karan KC and Sandeep Lamichhane picked up two wickets each. Lalit Rajbanshi also claimed one wicket.
Chasing a revised target after rain interruptions, Nepal reached 252/5 in 46 overs. Ishan Pandey led the chase with 90 off 115 balls, hitting 14 fours. Kushal Bhurtel continued his fine form with 51 off 42 balls, while Bhim Sharki contributed 37 off 51.
Dipendra Singh Airee remained unbeaten on 34 off 42 balls and captain Rohit Paudel stayed not out on 21 off 18 deliveries as Nepal finished ahead of the DLS par score when the match ended.
For Jersey, Charles Perchard took two wickets, while Julius Sumerauer and Scott van Breda picked up one wicket each.
The win follows Nepal's 81-run victory in the first practice match, where Kushal Bhurtel scored 105. The two-match practice series in Jersey was organised as part of the preparation for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 tri-series in the Netherlands, which will also feature Namibia.
