KATHMANDU: Nepal completed a 167-run win over Malaysia in the Asian Games Men's T20I Qualifier at the Singapore National Cricket Ground on Thursday.
After being sent in to bat, Nepal made 275/7 in 20 overs. Kushal Bhurtel led the innings with 126 off 54 balls, while Aasif Sheikh hammered 68 off 24 balls.
The pair added 134 runs for the first wicket. Dipendra Singh Airee then struck 31 off 11 balls to keep Nepal on course for another huge total.
Chasing 276, Malaysia never recovered from an early collapse. Sher Malla removed Aslam Khan, Muhammad Haziq Aiman and Muhammad Akram as Malaysia slipped to 17/3 in four overs.
Virandeep Singh was bowled by Sompal Kami for six, and Sandeep Lamichhane dismissed Muhamad Syahadat for a duck. Malaysia were 38/5 after 7.3 overs.
Captain Syed Aziz resisted with 54 off 45 balls, hitting six fours and two sixes. He added 50 runs with Sharvin Muniandy, who made 18 off 25 balls.
Dipendra broke the stand by dismissing Syed Aziz. Karan KC removed Sharvin before Kushal Malla took the final wicket as Malaysia finished on 108/9.
Sher was Nepal's best bowler with 3/14 from four overs. Sandeep also bowled tightly, taking 1/14 with one maiden. Karan, Sompal, Dipendra and Kushal Malla took one wicket each.
The win gave Nepal two points and kept them unbeaten in Group A.
