Nepal have officially booked their place in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, to be held in India and Sri Lanka, after results in the Asia-East Asia Pacific (EAP) Qualifier on Wednesday went in their favour.
Alongside Oman, Nepal became one of the first two teams from the regional qualifier to secure qualification for next year’s global event, even before their much-anticipated Super Six clash against the hosts at Al Amerat.
Both Nepal and Oman were assured of qualification after UAE's 77-run victory over Samoa earlier in the day mathematically confirmed their top-three finish in the Super Six standings.
With that result, Nepal and Oman — unbeaten so far — sit atop the points table, separated only by net run rate, while UAE remain third with four points and still in contention for the final qualification berth.
UAE will next face Japan in a crucial encounter on October 16, while Nepal take on Samoa in their final Super Six match on October 17.
This qualification also marks Nepal's second consecutive T20 World Cup appearance, after their participation in the 2024 edition in the West Indies and the USA.
Nepal played their maiden T20 World Cup in 2014 after finishing 3rd in the 2013 Qualifier, and they made their reappearance after a gap of ten years.
