Nepal to compete in Australia’s Top End T20 Series

Nepal’s national cricket team is set to tour Australia this August to participate in the 2025 Top End T20 Series in Darwin. The tournament, which runs from August 14 to 24, will feature four international teams, with Nepal being the first confirmed participant.

The Top End T20 Series will serve as an important preparatory platform for Nepal as they prepare ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier, scheduled to be held in Oman this October. With three qualification spots up for grabs in the regional event, the Darwin series will be crucial for Nepal’s World Cup ambitions.

The Nepali squad is expected to arrive in Darwin in early August and will play a minimum of six T20 matches across three venues – DXC Arena, TIO Stadium, and Cazaly’s Arena. The remaining participating teams and the full tournament schedule are set to be revealed in the coming weeks.

Last year, Pakistan A and Bangladesh A team featured in the tournament along with the Academy of Big Bash League (BBL) teams.

Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) secretary Paras Khadka highlighted the significance of playing in Australia, saying, “Competing against quality opponents in Australian conditions will provide our players with critical exposure, helping them better understand their game and grow as professional cricketers.

The Top End T20 Series is part of Nepal’s broader preparation strategy as they aim to secure a historic berth in the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, to be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Nepal will also be involved in a series against West Indies in late September in Sharjah.
