Netherlands fast bowler Vivian Kingma has been banned for three months after returning a positive test for a recreational drug following the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 ODI in Utrecht on 12 May.
The 30-year-old tested positive for Benzoylecgonine (a cocaine metabolite classified as a Substance of Abuse under the ICC Anti-Doping Code) in an in-competition test conducted after the match against the United Arab Emirates at Sportpark Maarschalkerweerd.
Kingma admitted the offence and established that the substance was ingested out of competition. Consequently, he has been given a three-month period of ineligibility, effective 15 August 2025. If he provides proof of satisfactorily completing an approved treatment programme, the ban may be reduced to a minimum of one month.
As per the Code, Kingma’s individual records in the ODI on 12 May and in any subsequent matches he played after that date have been disqualified.
