Nepal national team star bowler Sandeep Lamichhane set a new world record by becoming the fastest player to take 150 wickets in One Day International cricket.
Lamichhane reached the milestone during Nepal's ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 match against Scotland on Monday. He completed 150 ODI wickets in just 73 matches. Brandon McMullen, playing on 73 runs became his 150th victim in ODI cricket.
The Nepal leg-spinner surpassed Australia's Mitchell Starc, who had reached the landmark in 77 ODIs.
This is another major ODI record for Sandeep. He also holds the record for the fastest player to take 100 ODI wickets, having achieved that milestone in 42 matches against Oman in Kirtipur on April 21, 2023.
Sandeep has now taken 151 wickets from 73 ODIs. His best figures in the format remain 6/11.
