The United States has officially announced its 15-member squad for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, set to be co-hosted by Sri Lanka and India.
It will be USA's second appearance at an ICC Men's T20 World Cup, following a breakthrough debut in 2024 where they made headlines with a famous win over Pakistan and progressed to the Super 8 stage—one of the tournament’s standout stories.
Selection process under ICC interim coordination
The announcement comes amid the ongoing suspension of USA Cricket, after the ICC Board suspended the body on 23 September for breaches of the ICC Membership Criteria. The ICC stated that national team players would not be penalised by governance and financial instability, and that national teams would continue to participate in ICC events if required under interim ICC coordination.
With USA Cricket’s continued suspension and its decision to voluntarily enter Chapter 11 Bankruptcy, a revised selection process was developed in partnership with the ICC and the US Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) to ensure transparency and merit-based selection. All selection panel members submitted Conflict of Interest forms to the USOPC, and the meeting was observed by a USOPC-appointed Compliance Officer to ensure adherence to the Cricket Selection Procedures.
Sri Lanka camp and Group A challenge
As part of their build-up, Team USA has spent several weeks training in Sri Lanka, focusing on adapting to subcontinental conditions. The camp emphasised skill work, game awareness, and team cohesion ahead of the World Cup.
USA have been placed in Group A, alongside India (defending champions), Pakistan, Namibia, and the Netherlands.
Head coach Pubudu Dassanayake said the Sri Lanka camp helped push the squad to “new heights,” adding that the selected group is “strong, balanced, and ready” heading into the final phase of preparation before travelling to Mumbai.
Squad: experienced core with new faces
Led by Monank Patel, the squad includes a strong base of experience, with ten players from the 2024 World Cup returning. The remaining five add depth across key roles.
Shubham Ranjane is in line to make his T20I debut, while Mohammad Mohsin and Shehan Jayasuriya could be in contention for their international debuts.
