Aadil Alam earns recall as Nepal name squad for Unity Cup against West Indies

Nepal has named a 16-member squad for the upcoming Unity T20 Cup against West Indies, scheduled to take place in Sharjah on September 27, 29, and 30.

The squad sees a notable return for Aadil Alam, while Sundeep Jora retains his place following a strong run of form in recent Nepal A tour of India.

The side will once again be led by Rohit Paudel, with Dipendra Singh Airee serving as vice-captain. Aasif Sheikh continues as the primary wicketkeeper, with Aarif Sheikh offering additional depth to batting and bowling support if required.

The spin department is bolstered by the inclusion of Sandeep Lamichhane, Kushal Malla, Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi, and Shahab Alam, while the pace attack features experienced names like Sompal Kami, Karan KC, Gulshan Jha.

Promising young players Nandan Yadav, Lokesh Bam, and also make the squad, providing the team with depth and flexibility across departments.

Adil Alam last featured for the national team on August 30, 2022 against Kenya in a T20I series. He was recently cleared of all charges related to spot-fixing and is now eligible to return to both national and international cricket.

Alam was arrested in January 2023 by Nepal Police’s Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) over allegations of spot-fixing during the 2022/23 Nepal T20 League. Following his arrest, he was immediately banned from participating in all forms of cricket under CAN’s jurisdiction, both domestically and internationally.
