KATHMANDU: Cricket Association of Nepal secretary Paras Khadka has said CAN is working to develop the National Cricket Academy at Mulpani as part of its long-term cricket development plan.
Speaking on Kantipur TV, Khadka said the academy concept is being developed around the Mulpani cricket facility. He said the DPR and budget process for Mulpani have moved ahead, while CAN has also started preparing the framework for the NCA.
Khadka said the project is not limited to one ground or one building. He described the NCA as part of a bigger system to manage players, coaches, ground staff and cricket resources in a more structured way.
He added that CAN wants to build a central cricket setup while also developing a mechanism across all seven provinces. According to him, the academy project should help talent identification, coaching, player development and grassroots cricket.
Khadka also said school cricket will be part of CAN’s next phase. He said CAN is preparing to announce tournaments and calendar-based programmes to keep cricket active throughout the year.
The former Nepal captain said cricket has grown quickly after the Nepal Premier League, with more corporate interest and wider global attention. However, he said the ultimate goal remains grassroots development and a stronger pathway for players.
Khadka said many plans are still on paper, but CAN is trying to move step by step.
