The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has appointed former Australian international Ian Harvey as the Bowling Consultant Coach of Nepal’s national team, the Rhinos.
CAN confirmed the appointment through an official social media announcement, signaling a clear intent to sharpen Nepal’s bowling unit ahead of the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
Harvey is a well-known figure in world cricket, having represented Australia in ODIs and T20Is, and later working across various teams and leagues in coaching and consultancy roles. He played 73 ODIs for Australia between 1997 and 2004, picking up 85 wickets at an average of 30.32, and was widely recognised for his clever slower balls and impactful lower-order hitting.
He was also part of Australia’s 2003 ODI World Cup-winning squad, adding to his pedigree at the highest level.
Harvey is especially remembered in T20 history for scoring the first-ever century in Twenty20 cricket, a landmark innings that underlined his power-hitting ability and innovation in the format.
His experience is expected to add strong technical direction and tactical clarity to Nepal’s bowling plans—particularly in high-pressure overs. With Nepal preparing for a busy international schedule, CAN's decision to bring in an experienced bowling consultant is seen as a key step towards improving execution, consistency, and overall squad depth.
