The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has announced the fixtured for Jay Trophy 2026, Nepal’s flagship multi-day domestic championship designed to keep red-ball cricket alive in an increasingly T20-heavy calendar.
The tournament will be played from February 20 to March 3, split across TU International Cricket Ground and Mulpani International Cricket Ground, with all matches starting at 9:30 AM.
What is Jay Trophy?
Jay Trophy is CAN's elite multi-day tournament that brings together the top four teams from the Prime Minister Cup pathway for a short, high-intensity red-ball window. In the current structure, the competition is played as a round-robin league stage (two-day matches) followed by a three-day final between the top two teams.
A quick history: why the Jay Trophy name matters
CAN revived the Jay Trophy identity to reconnect Nepal's domestic system with its longer-format heritage. The tournament is named in honour of Jai Kumar Nath Shah, widely referenced as CAN's first president, and the title has been used historically in Nepal cricket circles—well before the modern "Elite Cup" era.
