Nepal beat Oman to stay unbeaten in ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers

Nepal continued their dominant run in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier, defeating Oman by 38 runs to remain unbeaten and strengthen their position at the top of the Super Six standings.

Batting first, Nepal posted 151/9 in 20 overs after being sent in to bat at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground. Kushal Bhurtel led the way with a superb 69 off 51 balls, smashing seven fours and a six to anchor Nepal’s innings. He was later named Player of the Match for his all-round performance, adding two catches in the field.

Openers Aasif Sheikh (24 off 20) gave a brisk start, while Mohammad Aadil Alam (16 off 15) and Gulshan Jha (18 off 10) played handy cameos down the order.

For Oman, Nadeem Khan was the standout bowler, claiming 4 for 20 in four overs, while Jiten Ramanandi supported well with 2 for 26.

In reply, Oman never looked comfortable chasing the 152-run target. Despite Vinayak Shukla’s fighting 32 off 19 balls, they were restricted to 113/9 in 20 overs. Nepal’s bowling unit once again delivered a collective performance, led by Gulshan Jha (3/31), Sompal Kami (2/25) and Nandan Yadav (2/19).

Sandeep Lamichhane and Kushal Malla also chipped in with a wicket apiece.

Dipendra Singh Airee produced yet another brilliant run-out — his fifth consecutive involvement in a run-out across the last five matches. His electric fielding continues to be a major asset for Nepal in this campaign.

With the victory, Nepal have now won four consecutive matches, sitting comfortably on top of the Super Six table with eight points and a healthy net run rate. They will face Samoa in their final match on Friday, aiming to maintain their unbeaten streak heading into the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
