Nepal outclass Japan to secure second straight win in ACC U16 East Zone Cup

Nepal U16 registered their second consecutive victory in the ACC Men's U16 East Zone Cup with a commanding nine-wicket win over Japan U16 at the Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar Oval on Monday.

Chasing a modest target of 81 runs, Nepal cruised to victory in just 14.2 overs, losing only one wicket in the process. Despite the early loss of opener Joy Thapa for just 1 run, the chase was comfortably anchored by Shiwansh Bajgain and Prasiddha Jaisi. The pair stitched together a solid partnership, with Shiwansh scoring 38 runs while Prasiddha remained unbeaten on 33, finishing the match with a boundary.

Earlier Japan were bundled out for just 80 runs in 34.3 overs after opting to bat first. Captain Charlie Harahinze stood out with a fighting 36, while Gabby Harahinze contributed 13. However, no other Japanese batter managed to reach double digits, as Nepal’s disciplined bowling attack kept them in check.

The standout performer with the ball for Nepal was Shubham Khanal, who delivered a brilliant spell, finishing with figures of 10-3-15-5. He was well supported by Abhay Yadav, who took two wickets, while Sushil Rawal and Bipin Sharma chipped in with one wicket apiece.

With this win, Nepal continues their unbeaten run in the tournament, having already defeated Singapore by six wickets in their opening match. They will next face Indonesia on June 29 in what promises to be another exciting encounter.
