Subash Khakurel (born 7 April 1993) is a legendary figure in Nepalese cricket, remembered as a technically sound opening batsman and a reliable wicket-keeper. A cornerstone of the "golden generation," Khakurel played a pivotal role in Nepal's historic rise from the lower divisions of the ICC World Cricket League to the global stage. He made his debut for the national team in December 2011 against Hong Kong and quickly established himself as a big-game performer, helping Nepal secure its first-ever World Cup berth during the 2013 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifiers.

His international career is defined by several historic milestones. During the 2014 ICC World T20 in Bangladesh, Khakurel etched his name in the record books by scoring Nepal’s first-ever half-century in a World Cup, a gritty 56 off 53 balls that led the team to a landmark victory over Afghanistan. Beyond the T20 format, he was among the elite group of players who participated in Nepal’s inaugural One Day International (ODI) match against the Netherlands in 2018. He also remains one of the few Nepalese cricketers to have scored an international century, achieving the feat with a brilliant 115 against the USA in 2012.

On the domestic circuit, Khakurel enjoyed a long and successful tenure with the Armed Police Force (APF) club before making a strategic move to Bagmati Province in early 2022 to further his playing career. Throughout various franchise leagues like the Everest Premier League (EPL), he became a fan favorite, most notably representing the Kathmandu Kings XI. His domestic experience provided a solid foundation for his eventual transition into leadership roles within the sport.

Following his retirement from active play, Khakurel has seamlessly transitioned into the technical side of the game. For the Nepal Premier League (NPL) 2025/26 season, he was appointed as the Assistant Coach for the Lumbini Lions. In this inaugural coaching tenure, he has reunited with his former national teammate and legendary spinner Shakti Gauchan, who serves as the Head Coach. Together, they focus on mentoring the next generation of Nepalese cricketers, utilizing Khakurel's deep understanding of top-order batting and wicket-keeping dynamics.
