Nepal A collapse to 138-run defeat against South Australia

Nepal A suffered a 138-run defeat against South Australia in the second 50-over match of their tour of Australia on Friday.

South Australia, who won the toss and elected to bat, compiled 259/9 from their 50 overs. Nepal A’s chase then unravelled quickly, with the visitors dismissed for 121 in only 22.1 overs.

Nepal A lost Trit Raj Das for four with the score on 13 before Mayan Yadav was dismissed for 20 off 17 deliveries. Captain Anil Sah followed for 11, leaving Nepal A struggling at 40/3.

Kushal Malla was trapped leg before wicket for a first-ball duck as two wickets fell without an addition to the total.

Pawan Sarraf made eight before Deepak Dumre contributed 18 off 19 balls. Lokesh Bam was run out for one after facing 13 deliveries, leaving Nepal A seven wickets down for 82.

Rashid Khan provided the only sustained counterattack, scoring 37 from 34 balls with four fours and two sixes. His innings came at a strike rate of 108.82, but Nepal A were already facing an imposing required rate and continued to lose wickets around him.

Rashid was dismissed with the score on 112. Rijan Dhakal remained unbeaten on four as Nepal A’s innings ended at 121.

Spencer Johnson led South Australia’s bowling effort with 3/33 from seven overs, including a maiden. Campbell Thompson and Hayden Schiller took two wickets each, while Hanno Jacobs and Lachlan Bangs claimed one apiece.

The result handed Nepal A their second defeat in the three-match one-day leg of the tour. They had previously pushed Tasmania deep into the final over before losing their opening match by two wickets.

Nepal A will conclude the tour with another 50-over match against New Zealand A on Sunday, September 6.
