Kathmandu - Rit Gautam and Ringzin Lama powered Kathmandu Metropolitan City to the PL Singh Memorial T20 Cup title with an eight-wicket win over Pokhara Metropolitan City at the TU International Cricket Ground, Kirtipur, on Saturday.
Kathmandu won the toss and elected to field first in the final. Pokhara were bowled out for 122 in 20 overs, with opener Arjun Kumal top-scoring with 31 off 37 balls. Subash Bhandari added 25 off 35, while Sudip Aryal provided late runs with a quick 20 off seven deliveries.
Nitesh Kumar led Kathmandu's bowling attack with 3/27 from four overs. Sonu Devkota and Bishal Phuyal picked up two wickets each, while Avinash Bashyal claimed one. Two Pokhara batters were run out as Kathmandu kept control of the innings.
Chasing 123, Kathmandu made the final one-sided through a dominant opening stand between Rit and Ringzin. The pair added 100 runs and took the game away from Pokhara inside 11 overs.
Rit struck 71 off 38 balls, hitting six fours and six sixes. Ringzin remained unbeaten on 50 off 34 balls and finished the chase with a boundary in the 13th over. Kathmandu reached 124/2 in 12.3 overs.
For Pokhara, Deepak Dumre and Sudip Aryal picked up one wicket each, but Kathmandu were already in complete control by then.
Rit was named Player of the Final for his match-winning 71. He also received the Best Batter award, while Pawan Sarraf was named Best Bowler of the tournament. Arjun Kumal was adjudged Player of the Tournament.
